Have you ever recorded yourself playing guitar, either with a video camera or an audio device? If you have, I’ll bet you were surprised at what you saw or heard. Many times when I’ve recorded myself, I heard things I did not “hear” when I was playing.

Listening to a recording of yourself helps you “step away” and listen without having to play the instrument and think about all the aspects that physically go into it. You hear nuances, mistakes, and qualities of your playing that you may not have heard before. This is extremely valuable because without listening to yourself, you may never truly know what you sound like as you play. It’s one thing for someone to tell you, “Hey, your rhythm right here is off.” It’s another thing completely for you to hear it yourself. It can very very eye opening.

If you make use of recording yourself properly (and I can help you do that), you can make huge gains in your playing. You will become a “finer” player. You will be become more precise, accurate, more rhythmically in sync, and more confident.
